:: Day 28 and 30 - Cycling to work ::

I've started cycling to work. Maybe that explains why i'm extra tired and my thighs are hurting more. But I reckon I'll get used to it. Since I'm tired now, I'm going to go straight to the stats;

Day 28
Time: 36 mins
Distance: 6.17km
Calories: 365 kcal

Day 30
Time: 1 hr 4 min
Distance: 7.93km
Calories: 650 kcal

1743 kcal burned so far this week. 1757 kcal more to burn. Riding with Moe tomorrow after jamming. It will be a very tiring day. But I guess that's good.

:: Day 27 - Part 2 ::

Part 2 is what happened today. Started the week with a session since I rested on Sunday. Stats.

Time: 1hr 11 mins
Distance: 10.8 km
Calories: 728 kcal

2772 kcal more to go for the week. On a negative note, no one seems to notice that I've been working out. No changes in my physical appearance. Don't get me wrong, I actually feel great. But I don't think I'm shedding physical weight just yet. Kind of a bummer since I'm close to the 1 month mark. Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

:: Day 27 - Part 1 ::

Since I've not been blogging the past few days, I decided to split this entry to 2 parts.

Part 1 - Last week

Last week i cycled on Friday and Saturday. From my last entry, I was left with 1446 kcal to burn to make my 3500 kcal/week target. Well, numbers;

Friday
Time: 3hrs 42 mins
Distance: 4.88 km
Calories: 2252 kcal

Saturday
Time: 27mins
Distance: 2.81km
Calories:275 kcal

I was riding with Moe on Friday. Riding and slacking. Showing him around Sengkang. On Saturday, me and Nura rode to my brother's house.

On a good note, I did clock in 4581 kcal for the whole of last week! 1081 kcal excess! That's awesome!!!

:: Day 22 - And the devil came out of me ::

With a sore ass, i forced myself to go cycle to day. Stats.

Time: 1hr 59mins
Distance: 11.16km
Calories: 1216 kcal.

That makes it 2054 kcal total for this week. 1446 kcal more to burn for this week. On a side note, managed to poop out the hard little devil in me today. Was really really happy but my ass is sore. Really sore. At least now i learn that i need fibre in my diet. Lots of it.

:: Day 21 - Tired ::

Super tired today. Don't really know why. Could be from last night session. Or perhaps not getting enough sleep. I found out today that there are side effects to losing weight. And its constipation. Starting to really really hurt and I'm taking juices to see if it helps. Hopefully this doesn't add to my calories, I really don't want to gain weight. I need help.

:: Day 20 - So far so good ::

Haven't been blogging for awhile. As mentioned in my previous post, I went out cycling with Nura on day 16 (thus breaking my one day riding and one day weight regime). It was really fun and we rode together again on day 17 (thus breaking my rule of not cycling for more than 3 days straight). Numbers for those 2 days first;

Day 16
Time: 2hrs 39mins
Distance: 10.79km
Calories: 1617 kcal

Day 17
Time: 1hr 42mins
Distance: 5.46km
Calories: 1041 kcal

This meant that for last week, I've burned a total of 5230 kcal (!!!). Thats alot! I skipped cycling for day 18 and 19. Was really feeling it. So decided to rest and started my first workout for this week today. Details

Time: 1hr 22min
Distance: 10.83km
Calories: 838kcal

2662 kcal left to burn for this week. Probably going to have another 3 more cycling session this week. Which would mean I would need to burn 800+ kcal per session. Hopefully I can burn more.

:: Day 15 - Weekly quota ::

Lets just start this. Statistics.

Time: 1hr 21min
Distance: 11.29km
Calories: 826 kcal

So far, for this week, I've burned a total of 2572 kcal. This is minus weight training. My aim is to burn 3500 per week. Last week, I did 2927 kcal. So this week is definitely an improvement. Riding tomorrow with Nura but that would be leisure riding but I would turn on my speedometer just to see how much kcal I can burn. Sunday is the last day to ride again. I read somewhere, burning 3500 kcal per week will burn off 1 pound (0.4 kg). But this is minus the whole counting calories. So, i might be burning more or less per week, based on what I eat. I have managed to cut down my food intake and have limit myself to 2 cups of coffee. No more sugar can drinks for me.

Just realized that today is the 2nd week of me riding. Definitely feel better and its easier to push myself to pedal non stop, compared to when I first started. 2 more weeks before trying to see if there are results from doing this.

:: Day 13 - Enjoying the burn ::

Pushed myself to learn to pedal non-stop today. Playing with gears to achieve that instead of letting the bicycle roll  (especially down slopes). Proud to say, managed to do it. Statistics;

Time: 1hr 19min
Distance: 11.04km
Calories: 809kcal

Although I rode further today than the last session, my calories burned is still lesser. I wonder why. On a side note, I've learned how to get off and get on my bike easily now, which makes me feel one with the bike.

:: Day 12 - Doing something different ::

Instead of going to ride tonight, I'm trying to see if I sticking to the 1 day ride, 1 day rest method. Instead of riding tonight, I'm going to do some weight training. Tomorrow I will continue riding. Putting strains to different part of my body while the other rest would be a good way to go I reckon.

On a different note, I do not know if I have lost weight but I do feel better. Less lethargic and definitely feeling like I have more energy to burn. I don't really feel bloated at all like I use to feel. I asked Nura if I've lost weight and she can't really tell. So, I think I would gauge what I'm doing based on how I'm feeling. So far, minus the fact I can't drink coke or any soft drinks and the muscle aches, everything has been positive. Nura did comment that my skin looks nicer now. Must be because of the constant drinking of mineral water.

:: Day 11 - Support ::

Been skipping working out to rest. My thighs was aching, so I listened to my body and took rest days. Was suppose to cycle with Nura last night but her bike tire was ruptured. Manage to cycle today and it felt good. Statistics:

Time: 1hr 16mins
Distance: 9.82km
Calories: 937 kcl

I reckon my average now is around 8-10 km per session. Must admit, I do feel better cycling now. Still painful, but not as painful when I first started. I do think I need a new route since the current route is starting to get mundane. Am also thinking of night photography while cycling. What do you think?

:: Day 7 - A week of this ::

Decided to rest yesterday. Was thinking of resting today too. 2 days train, 2 days rest. But I ate 2 sausages that I bought over at a food bazaar and just felt like i need to workout. So, took the bike out and rode an hour. Details:

Time: 1 hr 6 min
Distance: 9.25 km
Calories: 825 kcal

Although my distance today is not more than yesterday, I was surprise that my average speed is higher. Maybe the rest day does work. Well, I was suppose to be finding a route that covers at least 5 km, but I'm digressing. Overall, a little disappointing that I did not do more than the previous session, but I'm taking the positive that I rode. Even when I was too tired to do so. And today felt good actually. A lot of pushing myself, fighting the burning thighs.

:: Day 6 - Journey to the unknown ::

Lets kick this with the stats

Time : 1hr 32min
Distance : 11.92km
Calories : 1,161 kcal

Second continuous day of riding and it was hard! Maybe the 1 ride 1 off day theory is good. I could feel the thighs burn and i did more stops than usual. The last 3 km was done by pushing myself to go to an ATM machine further than usual, just to clock in the extra distance. It was surprising to be burning the most calories today. It came at a price. Today was torture. I will have to let my body decide if i should be resting tomorrow or I should go for a relax ride instead (30-45 min). I'm just going to take the positive and be happy that I've burned the most calories for today.

On a side note, I have been cutting sugar and it's getting harder. The cravings are starting but I must be strong.

:: Day 5 - Starting again ::

Day 5. Time to hit the road with the bike again. I have bought for myself a back light and a bike lock (spent $12 bucks on them). Got myself some allen keys too so that I can setup my bike properly. Now, the ride;

Time: 1hr 16min
Distance: 12.77km
Calories: 941kcal

Today was something. I wasn't as tired as before and didn't have much problem doing the ride. Could be becoz that my bike was setup properly or the rest really helped with my stamina. My goal today was to actually ride 7-8 km. Was really surprised that I hit 12km. Best thing is I'm not as tired as the previous 2 rides.

I read that there is a rule. Ride 1 day, rest 1 day. I guess I'll listen to my body to see if I can ride tomorrow. Things are looking bright.

I don't know how much I weight yet. Don't even know if I've lost some weight. I told myself I would not weight myself until I've done this for a month. So, following what I've read, I'm just going to concentrate on 3 things. 1) Cutting out sugar from my diet (allowing myself max 2 cups of coffee. 1 in the morning and the other taken before my rides). 2) Concentrate on the distance I'm riding and 3) Doing it constantly. Now, lets wait a month before I weight myself.

:: Day 3 and 4 - Rest day ::

The next 2 days will be my rest day. My thighs are killing me and I read somewhere that having rest days will aid in my weight loss. Hopefully, when I get back on the bike, it would be less painful, and my stamina would be better.

I'll probably take this 2 days to do up a bit of research on techniques. Probably will research on setting up my bike too.

My goal for now is to go down till 100kg. My main goal is to be down all the way to 80kg.

:: Day 2 - Hurting ::

Day 2. I kept telling myself that i need to go out and do this. I promised myself that I will do this for 2 months. No matter what. 2 months. No quitting. So.... statistics

The cycle

Time: 1hr 6mins
Distance: 8.49km
Calouries: 817kcal

When I started the cycle, i told myself "if i can clock in what I did yesterday it would be good enough". Today was considerably hard because the pain of riding is starting. My thighs hurt like shit, i was sweating more and my seat wasn't really good. There was alot more stopping to be honest. But i was shock when after 45min of riding, I was close to the 7km mark. So i told myself "lets hit 7 km and call it a day". Didn't know i did 1.5km more!

Well, I'm really sore. Would probably cycle again tomorrow. But I need to set a route. And follow that route from now on and take timings for it (since the faster i go = the better I'm at it now).

:: Day 1 - Setting up ::

After work, I went with Nura to get myself a bicycle. Purchased an M20 Realigh bicycle (white). Really excited on cycling after sending Nura home at night. I personally prefer to cycle at night, since traffic is less (human and vehicles). Been awhile since I've cycled so am really nervous about this.

The cycle

Time : 1hr 2 mins
Distance Travelled : 7.32km
Calories : 776kcal

I didn't know cycling was this tiring. Maybe I've overdone it. Overall, it was fun. Night time air. Wind on my face. But my thighs are killing me!!!

:: Creating a new me ::

Hi. I'm 30 this year. I'm 175m tall and 120kg. I'm writing this here to remind myself that I need to change. I need to be healthy, fit. Just like how I will push myself to exercise daily, I'm going to put my daily thoughts and updates on what I'm doing here. Hopefully, I can lose weight and be healthy. Today, on 19th August 2014, I'll start my journey.
