:: Told you its going to be legendary ::

Last Saturday, I told K that “tonight my friend…… its going to be LEGENDARY.” Not surprising, he didn’t believe me a single bit. By the end of the night, after doing an “after action review” did he realize that the night was truly, leuwauly legendary. Why? Here’s why
1) We manage to get a bus to miss his turn making him enter PIE.

2) We ate dendeng (or is it spelled dengdeng)

3) We played pool on a billard table. (One game took 15min plus to finish)

4) The trip down to Geylang was plagued with humorously done wrong turns

5) Lastly, its legendary alone to be spending time with my close friends.

The night however was almost ruined by rain. Luckily, it did not. On Friday, me and Suf was at the Lunarin pre album launch. I got a free poster, a free guitar pick and their newest album, get this, before it was even launched! Yes! Place was packed and here’s some picture to prove it.

I recommend any music lover to get the new Lunarin album (Duae). Been close to a week and I'm still listening to it.

:: Friday the 13th ::

Since its Friday the 13th, here's some interesting facts about it.
  • According to Smithsonian Magazine "fear of the #13 costs American a billion dollars per year in absenteeism, train and plane cancellations, and reduced commerce on the 13th of the month."

  • Fear of Friday the 13th dates back to Nordic Mythology. Many of their thirteenth Gods met with violent deaths, such as Loki, the trickster.

  • Ancient Romans regarded the number 13 as a symbol of death, destruction and misfortune.

  • Lizzy Borden uttered a total of 13 words at her trial.

  • There were 13 original colonies.

  • A witches coven consists of 13 members.

  • Tarot Card number 13 is the Death Card, depicting the Grim Reaper (although it is read as transition or change and not literal death).

  • Hotels rarely have a room number 13. Usually it is called 12a or 14. Same with floors of buildings and the elevators without a #13 button. Highways sometimes will skip exit 13 altogether also.

  • There are 13 steps leading to the gallows.

  • 13 knots in a hangman's noose.

  • 13 feet which the guillotine blade falls.

  • The driver of Princess Diana hit pillar #13 at Place de l'Alma when she was killed in Paris, France.

  • 13 people, Christ and his 12 disciples, were in attendance at the last supper. This is where the Christian belief ties in, making Friday a believed unlucky day, as the crucifixtion occurred on a Friday.

  • Certain ocean liners will be held in dock until after midnight to appease passenger's fears on Friday the 13th.

  • British study concluded that even though there were less cars on the road on Friday the 13th (as compared with other Fridays) more accidents were reported.

  • Trisadekaphobia is the technical name for fear of Friday the 13th.

  • Apollo 13, 1970, the 13th mission launched from pad #39 (13 x 3), mission was aborted, after an explosion occurred in the fuel cell of their service module. The rocket had left launcing pad at 13:13 CST and the date was April 13th.

  • Epluribus Unum has 13 letters.

  • The US Seal has 13 stars, bars, feathers in the eagle's tail, 13 bars in one claw, 13 olive branches in the other.

  • A "quatrorzieme" is a professional 14th guest hired by the French who had only 13 guests in attendance for dinner, who felt that was unlucky.

  • A baker's dozen consists of 13 for a reason! So the story goes a witch near Albany, NY demanded 13 items every time she came in to a particular bakery, and one day the old baker could not afford her extra biscuit. She sneered some strange words at the man, and he suffered terrible luck from then on, until he brought her another 13 rolls. After that life was once again easy for the baker and word spread around town. The custom is still sometimes practiced today.
Oh and also, today I'm getting my hands on the new Lunarin album! BOOYAH Buttocks!!!

:: Long weekends ::

Bless the long weekend that has passed. Long weekends are a good way to unwind, slow down and get that much needed rest after weeks and weeks of work. Long weekends are meant for late night sleep, late morning wake ups and just lazing around the house in nothing more than a shirt and underwear. To sit and just sloth. Being a couch potato is never a bad thing when it comes to long weekends. A trip out of Singapore would be good in the offing too I guess. BUT…..

That’s not how I roll! Long weekends? Bah! My long weekend was spent exploring! Yes. Exploring. Singapore is small. But the unknowns are still there. Here’s how things went.

Friday, 6th August 2010 – This happen between 1730hrs and 0000hrs

Met up with Suf and Moe to do that one thing we have not been doing for years. We went out to play pool! The whole night we played 9 ball and the final score was 5 (Moe), 4 (Suf) and 3 (Me). I suck at playing it. Been years (2 maybe) since I’ve played. I don’t think this would be the last time we’ll be playing pool.

Saturday, 7th August 2010 – This happen between 1200hrs and 2100hrs

Went to meet up Suf to explore sales opportunity. Ended in Bishan Junction 8. Target found. A sale at BHG. Everything going at 60%. Yes. 60%. Suf manage to capture a formal shoe going at $89 (original price $189). Polo tees were going for $10 a piece. Went out of that place with smiles. Mission accomplished.

Sunday 8th August 2010 – This happen between 1800hrs to 2100hrs

Me and K saw a forested area somewhere near a park in Sengkang and wondered what was in there. On this day, K, Suf and I went to answer that very question. The area I’m talking about is somewhere near Sengkang Park (if memory serves me right). We were attacked by a bee (which explains why there were 3 guys in the middle of the area with their helmets on) and a snake. YES! A SNAKE!!! The day ended with dinner at the Prata House. A picture that sums up the mood of the area.

Monday 9th August 2010 – This happen between 1700hrs to 2200hrs

Went to catch up with Gob. Nothing much happen. Been awhile since I’ve met him and it was awesomely leuwau to be laughing and sharing stories with him. He’s one dude who is always on my mind and that one dude I truly miss. Work and personal commitments just makes it harder for us to meet each other often I guess. At least we both are trying to set a date to see each other at least once. The topic of the day was “teabagging” and Left 4 dead. Really need to try out that game very very soon.

Therefore, I conclude, long weekends are just awesome. It was awesome, even if what I wrote are just highlights. Pretty much was occupied with my own personal ‘project’ during this time. Funny how I manage to squeeze that with whatever I wrote. Time management is simply…. BOOYAH BUTTOCKS!

:: Alot of awesome news ::

Lunarin is going to be releasing their new album "Duae" very very soon. Why is this exciting news? Only because I've been listening to them ever since I was in secondary school. Getting to meet them a few months back was totally leuwau and I've been waiting, and i really mean waiting, for this album to be out. Below is a trailer video by them and also an email that they post to everyone in their mailing list.

"Dearest Friend

By now we are sure you would have forgotten the earlier message we had sent you in May. No matter. That's why we are sending you this message now – to remind you that our new album will be released this month on 20 August 2010. Although we did not end that last sentence with an exclamation mark, we are in truth very excited. We are so excited that we are sending you this message in our underwear, with the telly on and the kettle boiling over but we don't care. We are so excited that our bassplayer has upped the stakes and declared that she is sexcited. This is how excited / sexcited we are.

Have you ever received an email out of the blue from a old schoolmate that you haven't seen for 12 years but is suddenly spamming your inbox with blurry iPhone photos of his newborn son, sharing with you poignant quotes about how his life has changed? If you have, fret not, this message will not be as painful as that one. If you haven't, well, we are like that friend, except we will not be showing you pictures of bloodied newborns screaming their heads off. We love you this much. :)

To understand why we are so excited, please go to the newly revamped www.lunarin.com now (giggles). We won't spoil the surprise for you. Go click the link and find out for yourself.

But that's not the only reason for our excitement (sexcitement). You see, we have a present for you. We are going to give away our new single “Zero Point Red” for free at www.lunarin.bandcamp.com Yes, free. There is no mistake. Just because some of us are lawyers doesnt mean we will rip you off. We love you too much to do that. And besides, we love music more than the law.

“Is that all?” you may ask. Why no. We are excited about many other things too.

First up, we are playing a show with our friends Simon Yong and In Each Hand a Cutlass at Home Club on Friday 13 August 2010. Show starts at 8pm and the cover charge is $15, inclusive of one drink. If you wish to pre-order a copy of our new album and get it before the official release date of 20 August 2010, simply drop us an email at lunarintheoracle@gmail.com and we will set aside a copy of the CD and a tiny free gift for you so that you can collect it at Home Club on the night of the gig. Just go up to the merchandise booth and announce that you have made a pre-order (saying the word sexcited will help) and the extremely good looking gentlemen at the merchandise booth will pass you a copy of the album at a special discounted price. You see, being a member of the Inner Circle has its privileges :)

More importantly, tickets for “DUAE: SHOW NUMBER II” is finally on sale now at the Artshouse Box Office and at https://www.bytes.sg/EventDetails.aspx?EventID=110 Tickets are on sale at $12 (exclusive of $2 handling fee). Considering our last album launch was on 7 January 2006 at the Substation, we can assure you that we have 4 years' worth of pent up energy, ideas and songs to make it a night worth remembering. Do come and spend 1 October 2010 with us. We promise we won't bite. Only the music will.

So that's it. This will likely be our last message to you in this format because we do not wish to spam people. However, if you head on down to www.facebook.com/lunarintheband or www.twitter.com/lunarin you can receive updates of what we are doing. You can even drop us a little message here and there to stay in touch. We do reply!

Thanks so much for your patience. We hope to see you soon.

With everlasting love,

Linda, Kah Wye & Eng Teck"

There you go. Am I going for the party. YES! Am I pre-ordering their CD? You bet your ass I'm going too! August is going to be GREAT! BOOYAH buttocks! Yes, I'm that hyped up now. And that ccMixter thing. Oh yes. That one is coming too.
