:: Told you its going to be legendary ::
Last Saturday, I told K that “tonight my friend…… its going to be LEGENDARY.” Not surprising, he didn’t believe me a single bit. By the end of the night, after doing an “after action review” did he realize that the night was truly, leuwauly legendary. Why? Here’s why
1) We manage to get a bus to miss his turn making him enter PIE.
2) We ate dendeng (or is it spelled dengdeng)
3) We played pool on a billard table. (One game took 15min plus to finish)
4) The trip down to Geylang was plagued with humorously done wrong turns
5) Lastly, its legendary alone to be spending time with my close friends.
The night however was almost ruined by rain. Luckily, it did not. On Friday, me and Suf was at the Lunarin pre album launch. I got a free poster, a free guitar pick and their newest album, get this, before it was even launched! Yes! Place was packed and here’s some picture to prove it.

I recommend any music lover to get the new Lunarin album (Duae). Been close to a week and I'm still listening to it.

:: Friday the 13th ::
Since its Friday the 13th, here's some interesting facts about it.
- According to Smithsonian Magazine "fear of the #13 costs American a billion dollars per year in absenteeism, train and plane cancellations, and reduced commerce on the 13th of the month."
- Fear of Friday the 13th dates back to Nordic Mythology. Many of their thirteenth Gods met with violent deaths, such as Loki, the trickster.
- Ancient Romans regarded the number 13 as a symbol of death, destruction and misfortune.
- Lizzy Borden uttered a total of 13 words at her trial.
- There were 13 original colonies.
- A witches coven consists of 13 members.
- Tarot Card number 13 is the Death Card, depicting the Grim Reaper (although it is read as transition or change and not literal death).
- Hotels rarely have a room number 13. Usually it is called 12a or 14. Same with floors of buildings and the elevators without a #13 button. Highways sometimes will skip exit 13 altogether also.
- There are 13 steps leading to the gallows.
- 13 knots in a hangman's noose.
- 13 feet which the guillotine blade falls.
- The driver of Princess Diana hit pillar #13 at Place de l'Alma when she was killed in Paris, France.
- 13 people, Christ and his 12 disciples, were in attendance at the last supper. This is where the Christian belief ties in, making Friday a believed unlucky day, as the crucifixtion occurred on a Friday.
- Certain ocean liners will be held in dock until after midnight to appease passenger's fears on Friday the 13th.
- British study concluded that even though there were less cars on the road on Friday the 13th (as compared with other Fridays) more accidents were reported.
- Trisadekaphobia is the technical name for fear of Friday the 13th.
- Apollo 13, 1970, the 13th mission launched from pad #39 (13 x 3), mission was aborted, after an explosion occurred in the fuel cell of their service module. The rocket had left launcing pad at 13:13 CST and the date was April 13th.
- Epluribus Unum has 13 letters.
- The US Seal has 13 stars, bars, feathers in the eagle's tail, 13 bars in one claw, 13 olive branches in the other.
- A "quatrorzieme" is a professional 14th guest hired by the French who had only 13 guests in attendance for dinner, who felt that was unlucky.
- A baker's dozen consists of 13 for a reason! So the story goes a witch near Albany, NY demanded 13 items every time she came in to a particular bakery, and one day the old baker could not afford her extra biscuit. She sneered some strange words at the man, and he suffered terrible luck from then on, until he brought her another 13 rolls. After that life was once again easy for the baker and word spread around town. The custom is still sometimes practiced today.

:: Long weekends ::
Bless the long weekend that has passed. Long weekends are a good way to unwind, slow down and get that much needed rest after weeks and weeks of work. Long weekends are meant for late night sleep, late morning wake ups and just lazing around the house in nothing more than a shirt and underwear. To sit and just sloth. Being a couch potato is never a bad thing when it comes to long weekends. A trip out of Singapore would be good in the offing too I guess. BUT…..
That’s not how I roll! Long weekends? Bah! My long weekend was spent exploring! Yes. Exploring. Singapore is small. But the unknowns are still there. Here’s how things went.
Friday, 6th August 2010 – This happen between 1730hrs and 0000hrs
Met up with Suf and Moe to do that one thing we have not been doing for years. We went out to play pool! The whole night we played 9 ball and the final score was 5 (Moe), 4 (Suf) and 3 (Me). I suck at playing it. Been years (2 maybe) since I’ve played. I don’t think this would be the last time we’ll be playing pool.
Saturday, 7th August 2010 – This happen between 1200hrs and 2100hrs
Went to meet up Suf to explore sales opportunity. Ended in Bishan Junction 8. Target found. A sale at BHG. Everything going at 60%. Yes. 60%. Suf manage to capture a formal shoe going at $89 (original price $189). Polo tees were going for $10 a piece. Went out of that place with smiles. Mission accomplished.
Sunday 8th August 2010 – This happen between 1800hrs to 2100hrs
Me and K saw a forested area somewhere near a park in Sengkang and wondered what was in there. On this day, K, Suf and I went to answer that very question. The area I’m talking about is somewhere near Sengkang Park (if memory serves me right). We were attacked by a bee (which explains why there were 3 guys in the middle of the area with their helmets on) and a snake. YES! A SNAKE!!! The day ended with dinner at the Prata House. A picture that sums up the mood of the area.

Monday 9th August 2010 – This happen between 1700hrs to 2200hrs
Went to catch up with Gob. Nothing much happen. Been awhile since I’ve met him and it was awesomely leuwau to be laughing and sharing stories with him. He’s one dude who is always on my mind and that one dude I truly miss. Work and personal commitments just makes it harder for us to meet each other often I guess. At least we both are trying to set a date to see each other at least once. The topic of the day was “teabagging” and Left 4 dead. Really need to try out that game very very soon.
Therefore, I conclude, long weekends are just awesome. It was awesome, even if what I wrote are just highlights. Pretty much was occupied with my own personal ‘project’ during this time. Funny how I manage to squeeze that with whatever I wrote. Time management is simply…. BOOYAH BUTTOCKS!

:: Alot of awesome news ::
Lunarin is going to be releasing their new album "Duae" very very soon. Why is this exciting news? Only because I've been listening to them ever since I was in secondary school. Getting to meet them a few months back was totally leuwau and I've been waiting, and i really mean waiting, for this album to be out. Below is a trailer video by them and also an email that they post to everyone in their mailing list.
"Dearest Friend
By now we are sure you would have forgotten the earlier message we had sent you in May. No matter. That's why we are sending you this message now – to remind you that our new album will be released this month on 20 August 2010. Although we did not end that last sentence with an exclamation mark, we are in truth very excited. We are so excited that we are sending you this message in our underwear, with the telly on and the kettle boiling over but we don't care. We are so excited that our bassplayer has upped the stakes and declared that she is sexcited. This is how excited / sexcited we are.
Have you ever received an email out of the blue from a old schoolmate that you haven't seen for 12 years but is suddenly spamming your inbox with blurry iPhone photos of his newborn son, sharing with you poignant quotes about how his life has changed? If you have, fret not, this message will not be as painful as that one. If you haven't, well, we are like that friend, except we will not be showing you pictures of bloodied newborns screaming their heads off. We love you this much. :)
To understand why we are so excited, please go to the newly revamped www.lunarin.com now (giggles). We won't spoil the surprise for you. Go click the link and find out for yourself.
But that's not the only reason for our excitement (sexcitement). You see, we have a present for you. We are going to give away our new single “Zero Point Red” for free at www.lunarin.bandcamp.com Yes, free. There is no mistake. Just because some of us are lawyers doesnt mean we will rip you off. We love you too much to do that. And besides, we love music more than the law.
“Is that all?” you may ask. Why no. We are excited about many other things too.
First up, we are playing a show with our friends Simon Yong and In Each Hand a Cutlass at Home Club on Friday 13 August 2010. Show starts at 8pm and the cover charge is $15, inclusive of one drink. If you wish to pre-order a copy of our new album and get it before the official release date of 20 August 2010, simply drop us an email at lunarintheoracle@gmail.com and we will set aside a copy of the CD and a tiny free gift for you so that you can collect it at Home Club on the night of the gig. Just go up to the merchandise booth and announce that you have made a pre-order (saying the word sexcited will help) and the extremely good looking gentlemen at the merchandise booth will pass you a copy of the album at a special discounted price. You see, being a member of the Inner Circle has its privileges :)
More importantly, tickets for “DUAE: SHOW NUMBER II” is finally on sale now at the Artshouse Box Office and at https://www.bytes.sg/EventDetails.aspx?EventID=110 Tickets are on sale at $12 (exclusive of $2 handling fee). Considering our last album launch was on 7 January 2006 at the Substation, we can assure you that we have 4 years' worth of pent up energy, ideas and songs to make it a night worth remembering. Do come and spend 1 October 2010 with us. We promise we won't bite. Only the music will.
So that's it. This will likely be our last message to you in this format because we do not wish to spam people. However, if you head on down to www.facebook.com/lunarintheband or www.twitter.com/lunarin you can receive updates of what we are doing. You can even drop us a little message here and there to stay in touch. We do reply!
Thanks so much for your patience. We hope to see you soon.
With everlasting love,
Linda, Kah Wye & Eng Teck"
There you go. Am I going for the party. YES! Am I pre-ordering their CD? You bet your ass I'm going too! August is going to be GREAT! BOOYAH buttocks! Yes, I'm that hyped up now. Speaking of which, a new label for my blog is coming up very very soon. Over 2 weeks, I've gathered some info on the "IKWYDK" game and its coming. Yes baby.... its coming real soon. And that ccMixter thing. Oh yes. That one is coming too.

:: ccMixter ::
After thinking long and hard (probably around 5 min coz i'm a premature decision maker) I've decided to make an account for a website called ccMixter. Rather than just write about it, I'm gonna make this interesting. Here goes;
On a rainy Wednesday morning, I'm here waiting for the frontman of Oligarchy to appear for this interview. Since stating in his blog that he's going to be creating an account for a website called ccMixter, our website www.madebelieveinterviewpleasedontclickonitcozitsfake.com was dying to interview him. Not only is he 45mins late, I was told to wait at this exact location (if I did not the interview will not happen). Drenched due to the lack of shelter, I wonder why am I standing on a huge "X". A flash of lightning struck, scaring the hell out of me. Then, I heard someone behind me saying, "Dude, theres a shelter right beside you man. Why are you standing in the rain?" It was him. Wan Oligarchy. Blogger of "Crainte la baise face", member of Oligarchy and a total jackass. "Coz you told me to stand at the X if not the whole interview won't happen" I told him. "Really? Hah!" He said as we made out way to a staircase nearby. Cheap place for an interview. As i gesture to start the interview he pushed his hands to my chest and said "Wait....." followed by a 5 minute long pause. "Ok go."
What is this ccMixter that you keep talking about?
ccMixter is a website where musicians go to get their mixes heard, to find music stems to create mixes, to have other people mix their mixes and lastly to know more musicians who are really into making mixes.
So why ccMixter Wan, don't you have other things to do in life?
Well, ccMixter is a good place for working out my brain, looking at a song in a different angle and working with what is there, not starting on a blank canvas which is how i usually approach music. Plus, its a good opportunity to meet and work with other musican to create music.
What made you want to be part of this ccMixter community and how long did you take to reach that conclusion?
A leuwauly cool dude name Ivan Chew (you can see him at some of the comments he left me at my comment column) introduce me to ccMixter at a mix class he that i went conducted by him. Hearing his work recently ("To be or not to be" is a leuwau track that I will one fine day do a remix off) gave me the inspiration to be more creatively active. Like I said, it seeing music in a whol---
Yes yes, "a whole different light". You've said that earlier on. Don't you have a Flickr account that does that? As in, making you be "creatively active".
Yes I do have a Flickr account but that website is for pictures. 2 separate art forms.
Ok smart boy, last i check you were in a band with a myspace and a reverbnation page. Why the need to have another outlet to showcase your music? Greed?
Ok.... Nothing changes actually. With ccMixter, I'll be working on mostly remixing other works (hence working on my mixing and eqing skills) that consists of stems (also known as samples). Recording of my vocals or instruments would be a bare minimum. The band website are songs that are already written or recorded or both. Its a very different angle of how I'll be working on musically.
So when can we see your work?
Firstly, its listen not see. Secondly, I don't know. Soon hopefully. If time permits. I'm super excited about this which means its going to be sooner rather than later when a piece of music finally pops out.
When would we know a mix or song is out?
I would unselfishly and unshamefully broadcast it here. Like how I just did listing out all the links in this make up interview.
Thank you so much for giving us this precious minutes interviewing you.
No problem. Send my regards to Fred.
Who's Fred?
Oh forget it
As I left the steps we were sitting on, I have to admit that I truly felt like I was in the presence of an artist. I shook hands with him, I saw a smile from this man that looks so sincere it made me feel truly grateful. All those talk that he's a jerk and an asshole was all rumors I guess. As I made my way to a nearby toilet, I realize only later on that he truly is a jerk and a total asshole. Not only did he get me drenched in the rain, the wall that I was leaning on while doing the interview has the warning sign saying "Wet Paint". Not only did Wan Oligarchy successfully got me to wait for 45 minute for an interview that was over and done in 5 minute, he successfully got me drenched. Finally, to top it all off, he manage to get my $50 cotton on top and my designer jeans ruined with white paint. I hate that dude.

Got up, can't even stand. Took off from work and went to the nearest Polyclinic. Doctor said, "Its a broken ankle, have to send you down to the hospital." Consultation with the doctor and was put on a cast until the end of the year. This is how my ankle looked like with a hairline crack.

8th July 2010
Got back from the doctors and was told the excellent news that my bone is fully healed and I was put on a 2 year calling list. That's around 8 months of healing (maybe earlier if I'm no smoker).

During this 8 months, it taught me so many things. It got me focused and it got me recharged to take life by the balls and make it work. You see people, life at times don't go our way. Instead of changing things, we should adapt. Adapt to the situation. Those first 2 months is the most humbling time I was ever put into. I learned to be patient. I learned to be more focus on what I want. I saw real friends emerge from the shadows and helped me mentally to get thru that really painful period. I saw what and who is more important in my life. Was it painful? Well it was. Not physically, but mentally. It was only during that time was I force to sit back and look at my life as a whole and make decisions on what's important. What are they? Well, in time people will see. Is it negative? Well no. I can't be putting negatives into my life when all I'm striving for is the positives. Happy to survive that hard test in my life, happy to be where I am now in life and really really super stroke to be told my ankle is fine. Now 2010, what more can I get done before this ends? Should take pictures of the cast i was in that was decorated. Good times.

:: Introducing "Back as one" ::
As promised, today is the 4th of July and I've released the demo of "Back as one" on the awesome awesome oligarchy reverb nation page.
A little history on the song.
Written way way back in 2003 (thats 7 year ago man!), it is the 2nd song written by Oligarchy (interesting note: the first song is a song called Valium). How did the song came about you might ask... Well in 2003, even before Oligarchy was fully formed and named, me and Suf started writing songs. We were around Tampines and we only had my guitar to write down song ideas. We got the skeleton down and brought it to the jam room a few days later with a recently joined bassist name Bob. We played it to him, he got down writing the bass part and shazaam, the song was born. It was the second song ever written for this project and the very first to have everyone in the group putting their creative parts in it. The song is pretty much what an 18 year old filled with angst would write. If you ask me now, i'll say i don't really know what i was babbling about. This song has only been played live ONCE in 2005. Releasing this song, although not in its original arrangement, is really a walk back into the past.
Remembering how that song was made just brings back memories where everything was so simple and pure. Recording it was really a humbling experience. Sitting down, remembering what i was feeling when it was first written and trying to be 'in that moment' was really really nice. I hope people would enjoy it just like how i enjoy making it.
Keep checking for updates to know what other songs will be released soon. Yes, soon. Happy independence day.

:: Coming towards the end of June ::
Finally! No more June weekends. Phew.... I have never been busier in June than this year. In total, we played 4 shows, had 2 weddings, 1 mad practice session and i had to go thru that mind boggling TP test. That I pass. (will update on what happen and everything in a later post). This June is really pure madness. But close to the end of it all, I understood individuals better. I'm guessing July will be the time to undwind and relax. Now, I need to clean my room, fix back all my recording gear, get back into the 'i'm making music' mindset and lastly, wax and clean my bike. Booyah!

:: Weekends so far ::
June weekends started with a wedding followed by 1 weekend gig. The following week was back to back gigs and next week would be my TP, cousin wedding and lastly the last gig for this month. After that, finally rest. I'm getting too old for this. A holiday maybe? Hmmm... maybe. And yes, our faces are pasted on the gates of SAF Yatch Club.

:: A Tough Decision ::
A man is dating three women and wants to decide which to marry. He decides to give them a test. He gives each woman a present of $5000 and watches to see what she does with the money.
The first does a total make-over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much. The man was impressed.
The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much. Again, the man is impressed.
The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5000. She gives him back his $5000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much. Obviously, the man was impressed.
The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money, and then he married the one with the largest breasts.
